Just out of interest there are mentions on digital kaos about wiring damage: "most Ducato have problems with the wiring under the left front light. take off the lamp and check wires all the way from fusebox to engine ECU". Might be worth checking there. Also check for water ingress in the fusebox and ecu.

54. Sep 1, 2018. #1. 2003 2.3jtd Ducato motorhome, 42k miles. After a trip of 40 miles with no problems the Yellow Engine light came on and the engine lost power and stopped. Would not restart immediately. It did restart after 5 minutes wait or less - no engine light.. but under any form of load the problem repeated.
